Posted By: Brian McQueen

Just noticed something else on the site that may be leading to a number of the anonymous posts we've seen lately. I had logged in and was responding to an earlier post when halfway through, I got distracted (as I am here at work ) for a couple of minutes. After that, I finished my message and submitted it only to find out that I had been timed out of the site due to inactivity. Seems like if you are inactive on the site (which includes the time it takes you to respond to a post as the actual process of typing a response does not count as "interacting with the site") for 5-10 minutes, you are automatically logged off. However I haven't had this experience in the chatrooms as I've been idle in there for over half an hour at times but have never had to sign back in. Has anyone else noticed this?

Posted By: Julie
Everyone who contributed to "What's your story" took an average, I would think, of 15 or more minutes to complete their various stories--I didn't get timed out. In fact, I've NEVER gotten timed out of the Forum. Paypal (notoriously!--in the negative sense) and a few other commercial enterprises, yes.

Posted By: Bill Cornell
A solution for this from the FAQ's page:

It's a good idea to modify your options here for auto-logoff to be "quarterly". This means you won't have to be constantly logging on.
