Posted By: jay behrens
Now that I have a some cash again, it's time to start chasing the player set again. I am looking to aquire one card of every player that appeared on a card from 1905-1945.

I still need a lot of cards. I am mainly looking to buy lots of low grade cards from any pre-ww2 set. The only condition requirement is no heavy crease or paper loss on the face. Otherwise, I could care less if parts of the card are missing, torn, etc.

Jay

These are excellent for detecting air brushing (in or outside the slab~) and/or corner restoration and crease pressing or corner rebuilding.

and 3 & 1/2 inch "lighted" plastic loupes much like the ones the optometrist uses when he examines your eyes. These loupes are excellent for viewing corners with the light and seeing trimmed and or abraded edges. Mid to lower grade cards are fine.

[For anyone interested, my interest in Wally follows. Wally has assumed somewhat legendary status in this office. In particularly heated telephone negotiations with a certain inverted corporation [see Lou Dobbs and exporting jobs], the certain corporation and its lawyers asked what our position was on a particularly difficult point.

One of the people on the conference call in my office stared around and saw a BF-2 card of Wally. Seizing the moment, he responded to their question by stating that we would have to consult with Wally Schang and get back to them.

They murmered their agreement with our course of action and the point was never raised by them again. We credit it all to the efforts of Wally, a truly underrated ballplayer.]

Max

Posted By: Gary B.
I've always wanted a genuine period Ruth card (i.e., not a 1960 fleer - something mid-1910's to mid-1930's), and am looking now to buy one. I am trying to find something on the more affordable side (as Ruth goes), so please no offers to sell me a PSA 5 Goudey. I will be happy to entertain any issue in any condition. Also, if you send me an e-mail, please don't send a scan as my hotmail account can't handle large attachments right now. Please write me with what you are offering, and I'll write you back with a different e-mail addy for the scan if I'm interested.

Thanks so much!
Gary

Posted By: Gil
Hi Gary B., Three Ruth cards which you may want to consider, which appear to match your selection criteria, are up for auction on eBay now. One is a 1927 Exhibit and the other two are a part of a lot of (12) W-517s. You may be able to get all three for a price within your budget. The W-517s are strip cards manufactured in 1931, and they come in various colors. The 1927 Exhibit is black and white.
