Posted By: BillyB
Due to the live action photos, I have developed in interest in T202's.
I searched this forum about reprints for them and found this post from "Julie"
http://www.network54.com/Forum/message?forumid=153652&messageid=1057622773
that stated "I can't even remember ever seeing as fake T202 (have 102)."

Does anyone else know that T202 reprints do or do not exist? Or are there fakes that have been known to be for sale?

I also googled and did not come up with any interesting hits on T202 reprint.

Thanks for any information,

Billy

Posted By: Elliot
Reprints do exist for t202's. They are pretty easy to spot because of the fold lines.

Posted By: Brian H
Yes there are reprints of several better cards in the set -- I don't believe that the entire set has been reprinted though.

Posted By: Julie
Brian (see above post) is an expert on the set. All I meant to say is that nobody had ever looked sideways at any of mine, nor had I at any I had seen.

The T202 set would certainly be worth counterfeiting, but difficult to do effectively, because of the combination lithography and photography on it, and all the distinctive print on the back--and the folds, which enabled it to be
placed in a cigararette pack in spite of its length.

So I am not surprised to hear that there are some--or to hear that they aren't particularly good (as far as anyone knows).

Posted By: Lee Behrens
The T202 reprints are relativly easy to spot, they have a thicker white border than the originals, there are also some that have perferation lines, as they were in a book with other reprinted vintage cards and tore out. If I ran across one I will post it, but they do not show up to often.

If you need any help with the set feel free to ask I am down to 2, hopefully it will be done soon!!!!!!

Posted By: BillyB
Lee,

Thanks very much for a visual aide. I actually had seen that auction and wrote to the person since I felt these cards looked too new.

She wrote back saying she did not know if they were reprints and asked how to tell.
I cut the piece from this thread and emailed her.
Of course, I told her I was not suggesting that they were reprints as I do not know...just that she may want to check with someone who does so as not to mislead the buyers.

Billy
