Posted By: kyledavis
Has anyone heard of any '65 Mantle counterfeit ever being circulated? I got a '65 today from a good seller, it is off center and looks okay but the card stock seems a bit to crisp and white? I just have a sliver of doubt but I cant find any one having run across one. Any insite would be appreciated.

Posted By: Tom Boblitt
I haven't.....seen the 1963 Rose rookie reprints and had a few of them. They were eerily similar in stock and print to the originals. Fortunately someone had stamped them 'reprint' on the back. Looked nice in the showcase though!

So far I've queried around with others and no one has seen a boot of this card, if anyone knows different? thanks for your time.

Posted By: iggyman
It's just a figment of my imagination, since the card is a little off-center. But to my eyes, it looks a tiny bit short (top-to-bottom). For the sake of prosperity, have you compared it with other "65's"???

Posted By: kyledavis
i also have a world series insert #134 with this card and they are the exact same size and #134 is definetly real but the back colors the blue border, the color is more of an aqua. The edges are just so clean I have a bit of doubt but as I said in my first post it came from a legit dealer and he got it out of a storage unit that had not been opened for over 20 years. It seems to me that if someone had made a bogus card they would have put alot out there a long time ago and someone would have run across one?

Posted By: Tom Boblitt
when the legit dealer says it came from the storage unit that hadn't been cleaned for 20 years.....kind of like the T206 Ty Cobb found in grandpa's closet that hadn't been cleaned. Like someone has to justify quickly so you'll say, 'oh, okay, must be real'. Does the back look okay?

Posted By: kyledavis
yes the back looks real but it is very clean, it is an almost aqua blue border . And when I say legit dealer I mean legit, this stuff does come out of storage it is the only place the items I buy come from, I deal mainly in vintage toys and some antiques, the guy who had these cards also had a lot of sealed models from the 60's and those are definetly real. That is why I am asking if anyone knows if about 20 years ago or more these cards were couterfeited? thanks.
