Non-indicia of fraud: quite a bit of good feedback, no prior bogus card sales, sent me a Paypal payment request (meaning I will torch his @$$ if the card is fake). Anyone have any hot info on why I should not close this deal? The last plunge I took like this turned out to be a genuine S.F. Hess...I'll keep you posted.

Posted By: Scott Forrestit's not real - probably a forgery rather than a reprint: 1. creases on back pop out in the middle (seller added creases before glue holding layers together was dry). 2. corners clipped without an attempt even to add wear (upper right is almost straight clip) I learn this stuff from making my own reprints - it's not as easy as you might think. Also, the fuzzy scan and private feedback - seller hasn't used private feedback in the past. These old flea market booth operators every now and then try something like this to supplement what was previously an honest living. I guess they figure that if you can't tell the difference once you get it, that it really doesn't matter and you had too much money in your pocket anyway. Edit Message Respond to this message

I told her "good luck". I am not as sure as Scott (hey Scott) but he knows better than I. Even the few times I have bought from novice folks, with low feedback and grandpa stories, they at least gave me the assurance it was real. So far so good. Good luck with this one. Maybe you can tell her you wouldn't pay that much for a fake and try to get a guarantee after the fact? later

Just the fact that she has been told it may not be real but is selling it anyway tells you a lot about his/her moral standards. An honest person would find out the card, or ANY item for that matter, is authentic BEFORE selling the item. Like you said, you used paypal, you're covered. I have a feeling you'll be getting your money back.

I just wanted to say that just because you pay by Paypal does not mean you will get your money back on a deal gone bad. If the person does not have any funds in their account when Paypal tries to recover funds you are out of luck. This happened to me. I paid for an item added money for insurance and never received the item or a reply from the seller. I filed a complaint with Paypal and after a month they sent me an email saying they determined the seller was at fault but they were unable to recover the funds. I would suggest if you feel like it may not be real, contact the seller with your concerns and see if you can mutually not honor the bid. This is allowed by Ebay and the seller can recover listing fees without anything going against the buyers record. So glad I found this site it is great.

Posted By: warshawlawThe seller sent me an email saying I could pay via Paypal, then sent me an email telling me that her Paypal account was messed up and I should Fed Ex (!) her a money order. I checked Paypal and her account was just fine. I then emailed her and told her that she was a liar and she could stick her card back under the rock she crawled out from. Yech... Guess I'll take the negative and retaliate against her when it comes.

Posted By: BOTNAdam, This is the 2nd time that she was selling her grandpa's card. I wrote her last time telling her that the card was not real and meant no insult to gramps. This time around I wrote and asked if she would guarantee the card or offer a return. No reply. Too many excuses, poor photo, has trouble written all over it. I doubt that you will get a negative. Keep your dough. Greg
