I just returned 2 similar to a friend whom I bought a few mini w517s from. Unless you see the broken dash line on top or bottom for cutting, I would say it is not a w517 mini. Thoughts by the board? Dan.

Posted By: Eric
Hey Dan,

I'd agree with Scott, as the single W517 mini I own is also larger than a 4-in-1 singular panel. Looking at the Gehrig, it looks to be a W517 mini. Withouthaving mine in front of me, I can't say this with absolute certainty, but I believe the W517 features more of a "comic-sans" type of font, whereas the panels use more of a professional font. I'd have to look at mine to verify that, but belive I've got it right.

Eric

Posted By: dan
I put a mini w517 over a 4 in 1, the card is the same size though the picture is a tad larger, no way to tell w/o having them side by side. That color that the gehrig SGC card is happens to be a known and common color in the 4 in 1 exhibits. I have never seen that deep red in a W517.

Posted By: Rhett
The name on the Gehrig appears to be off to the right, slightly. That indicated that it wouldn't be an exhibit, since the names were all written in the middle of the card.

Posted By: fkw
I believe Dan is right. The Gehrig is a deep dark red exactly like a cut (4-on-1) W517-2 card I own. These are cut from a very rare anonymous 4-on-1 card that is like an exhibit card but different in many ways. the pictures are all exactly the same as the W517s and are mostly action shots, The font of the caption is exactly the same as the W517s, different than the normal 4-in-1 Exhibit Supply Co. cards. The only difference from the larger W517's is the lack of the card number in the circle. The strip form W517-2 mini cards are similar but I believe the card stock is thinner than on these cut from 4-on-1 cards. I have seen some of the W517-2 cut 4-0n-1 cards with part of a stamp box on back as well. Posted By: jay behrens
I guess I should have looked at this thread earlier. I might be able shed some light on this issue. I aquired 18 strips of 3 cards each from a collection in MN in 1987. The cards look exactly like the cards pictured here. I had them with me at the 1987 National in SF when I was set up there. Everyone I showed them to had no clue what they were.

They were interesting cards, but the red is just too dark and makes the images difficult see. Becuase of this, I eneded up unloading the cards without learing anything else about them, but there are at least 18 strip, all in great shape, at least Ex/Mt. All the strips were crease free and slightest of wear on the corners, if any.

Jay

Posted By: warshawlaw
are the borders. The cut 4 on 1 PC back exhibits I've seen (and I am no expert since I've only seen a few and only own 1) are full bleed to the outer sides. The W517s appear to be bordered all around. Would this be a way to differentiate between them?

fwk: nice p/u. I wanted that one...
