This is an incredible 370 page book broken down by team with tons of pictures and great reading. If you were not a member this past year, you can still buy this book for thru SABR $24.95 plus shipping. If you were a member, you got this book for free. Posted By: <b>Durward</b><p>As a member of SABR, I can vouch for Jay’s comments that the Deadball Stars is an excellent publication. Plenty of information is available on the superstar players like Matty and Honus. What makes this book special is that it has the biographies of the more obscure star players (e.g. Patsy Donovan, Slim Sallee, Jake Daubert, Bill Doak …) in this era. I think this group would enjoy and well worth the price of $25.<BR><BR>I enjoy reading this forum but do not contribute much as I’m relatively new to the vintage card collecting arena. I do thank you all for your contributions, as this forum is very interesting and informative. <BR>Thanks again,<BR>Durward Hamil<BR>

Posted By: <b>Durward</b><p>Scott,<BR>Thanks for the message. I have been a fan of pre-WWI baseball history for a long time but just really started to collect pre-war cards in the fall of 2001. This was the same time I started to explore eBay. During this time I have experienced the growing pains of buying altered, trimmed and over graded cards. On the plus side, eBay has introduced me to the availability and affordability of modest condition prewar cards. I have learned a lot by reading the threads in this forum and given the knowledge of the people posting here I still consider myself a novice. In addition to you, I also recognized a number of people on this forum that I have had very positive transactions with and that is much appreciated. Looking ahead I will post more if I feel I can add value to any of the specific topics. <BR>Durward<BR>
