Posted By: TBob
Having sent several packages in to GAI for grading in the past 2 months, I can state that GAI, while still my grading company of choice, has really been tough on grading caramel cards. I like the fact they seem to be consistent but wow, they are just as brutal as SGC now. Cards grading VG with no creases and no appreciable rounding compare very favorably with PSA 5s I've seen recently on ebay.

The way that I look at it is that PSA has become way too soft. SGC and GAI have been tough in contrast. I think that they are far more accurate and consistent and are maintaining a grading standard.

For that reason there is far more value in a card graded by them over any of the other services. When I buy for my collection those are the two holders that I look for.

Best,
Greg

Posted By: TBob
I still don't like the whole grading business/idea but they provide a safe (?) way to store otherwise fragile pieces of cardboard. I have entombed all my E94s and have started entombing many of my older scarce cards like 1909 Obaks, 1910 Obaks Series of 150 and the E98 set. The rest I'll leave alone. Bottom line is I am still buying cards, not holders, and don't pay as much attention to the grades assigned on the labels as many.
Happy Turkey Day!
TBob
