Posted By: Jeff
I have a question for the board: if a T206 has a value of x in the 2004 Standard Catalog for a grade of "NM", what is the approximate value when the card is a PSA 8? Or PSA 9? I assume that the value correlating to a NM grade is based on a PSA 7... Is the increased value an approximate percentage? Help!

A more accurate pricing for graded versus raw is to watch SGC pricing. People do not tend to vover bid drastically for SGC graded T206s. PSA graded cards can vary drastically on when you are buying on ebay:

PSA 5: $60-$225
PSA 6: $85-$225
PSA 7: $150-$250
I have not followed PSA 8 or above.

If you think I am goofy about the high end for these cards just follow them for about 3 months and you will find that the price varies depending on the biddersin the market at the time that is why we WARN new collectors to beware not to overpay for PSA T206s.

SGC 60: $55-$$75
SGC 70: $60- $80
SGC 80: $75-$125
SGC 84: $150 - $200

There seems to be more consistant bidding the SGC cards so you won't have to over pay to bad and probably get a better card in the long run.

The best thing to do when buying is to track some of the similar items for a couple of months to get an idea of what the maket bears on them first.

My suggestion right know is to buy T206 HOFers, they seem to be lagging behind in the recent increase in rising T206 prices.

Lee

Posted By: David Seaborn
Jeff,
I follow these things religiously and can tell you the actual values for PSA/SGC graded T206's (as well as others). In some cases the guides are way off or simply do not cover the grades in which you are interested.
Here is a sample. To keep it simple, let's take all the listings for all T206 commons with only a Piedmont back (without qualifiers) that have been sold at auction. This include eBay, Teletrade, Lew Lipset, Mastro, BaseballVintage, Superior,SportscardsPlus, and 19thCenturyOnly.
Since January 1, 2003 there have been 22 PSA/SGC 7's offered individually for sale. Their average price was $248.84. There have been 18 PSA/SGC 8's offered individually. Their average price was $702.82. Their has been one PSA/SGC 9 offered individually. It was sold for $2789.90.
Hope that helped.
