Posted By: JamesWalkerJr
I have a question about the DOYLE, N.Y. (Hands above head) card.

Just about every checklist I see has this card listed as Joe Doyle. According to Mastronet, there are about 6 examples of this same card that as DOYLE, N. Y. Nat'l at the bottom (see their current auction http://www.mastronet.com/index.cfm?action=DisplayContent&ContentName=Lot%20Information&LotIndex=32386&CurrentRow=1).

If this is actually Doyle from the N.Y. Nat'l team, then shouldn't it be Larry since Joe played for the N.Y. Amer.? Or is that why the "Nat'l" part is missing?

Any thoughts?

James Walker, Jr.

Posted By: Brian Weisner

Hi James
Most experts believe that the Nat'l was added to " Joe Doyle" by mistake early in the printing process.
Similiar to the Magie error, the mistake seems to have been corrected while many other misspelling errors went unaddressed. There are probably a few more variations from this set that haven't been found discovered yet, and I hope I'm the one that finds them. Be well Brian
