Posted By: Jeff KennedyHello All, Since there is'nt an in-depth guide for the 1912 T207 set(such as Bill Heitmans "The Monster" for the T206 set), I was wondering if all the cards in the T207 set can be featured with all the possible back combinations. Heitmans book pretty much lays it right out there for the T206 collector giving the reader all the possible back combinations for all the different cards in the set. T207 unfortunately, does not have an in-depth guide, thus the beginning collector can only look to the more knowledgeable collectors for the answer. While I am picking the brains of the "experts" I would also like to have a scarcity list for the different T207 backs as well as a price differential for all the different backs (i.e. Napolean is worth 2X more than Recruit). Hope this is'nt asking too much just trying to learn a little bit about the set since I am now knee deep in to it <img src="/images/happy.gif" height=14 width=14> . THANKS to all who contribute!

Posted By: scott brockelmanjeff, in my experience, the tougher backs, such as broadleaf, cycle and anonymous (forget red cross, although it applies as well) only come with the known players. while the other cards only come with recruit and napoleon and also anonymous backs, NEVER DO THE CARDS CROSS THE LINE!, i do not think all can be found with napoleon backs or anonymous backs as stated 2 decades ago. in order of rarity, red cross stands far and above the crowd, i would place 100X premium, broadleaf and cycle are about equal with a value of at least 2-3x the current book, although the cycle being red is more sought after. the anonymous might be a bit easier, but definitely not as popular as the others due to it's plain appearance.

Posted By: Bill CornellScott's right, of course, although I'm curious why you think Anonymous Fact. 3 (LA) backs can't be found for all T207's. I have 3, of which Bodie and Engle are "commons" (otherwise found only with Recruit and Napoleon backs) and Buck Herzog is "difficult" (Cycle, Broadleaf, and Anonymous Fact. 25 - VA). There was a Speaker up on eBay a couple of times recently that is also a common. It may be a stretch, but I think that would indicate that Anon. Fact. 3 is the one back that can be found on all T207's. Bill

Posted By: TBobIn the next issue of VCBC there are 2 articles by Tim Newcomb and myself (Tim's is actually a 2 parter) which will answer all your questions about the 207s, Jeff. My article is more of an overview of the set while Tim's is more statistical, having collected info on several thousand T207s. I think there will be some traditionally accepted premises shattered, especially with regard to how undervalued Napoleon backs are based on their scarcity. After looking at an advance copy of Tim's work, I immediately picked up a tough Art Wilson in EXMT with a nice Nap back. Thanks Tim <img src="/images/happy.gif" height=14 width=14>

Who knows, maybe they will become the next Carolina Brights (probably not Uzits). Seriously, Bob's and my articles should offer exactly the kind of thing Jeff has asked for-- we hope so anyway. I'm still accepting T207 data from anyone who hasn't yet responded. Particularly interested to know what players you have with Anonymous-Factory 3 backs. Tim
