Posted By: Charlie
Is it just me or do other people notice there are no more T206 PSA 8's listed on ebay anymore. I used to see a few every week...now maybe one a month if that.

Posted By: Brian Weisner

Hi Charlie
I have 4 beautiful Psa 8 Southern Leaguers which look like 9's and are not for sale. All four came from a small "find" in Charlotte in the mid 80's.
I recently sold a Psa 8 Rube Waddell throwing on Ebay for 1875.00, and I noticed a Psa 8 McGraw which failed to meet it's reserve last month. Most of the 8's I've seen on Ebay are commons, and they normally sell for 500-800 depending on the population report. T206's graded 8 or higher are tough to find, especially hofers, most come from 4-5 key finds over the last 20 years. I'm halfway through building a set of Southern Leaguers in EX-MT 6 or better condition, and am amazed at the lack of cards 6 or higher available. Be well brian

I am just not a firm believer that there can not be many vintage cards that exist that would qualify better than a 7.
It is not even easy to get modern cards to grade over a 7.
I just sold a T206 Cad Coles PSA 7 that I can not believe won't grade higher, I looked the card over many times and not been able to find any flaws in the card. It is now going to a new home partly because it frustrated me to have a card that nice that was only a 7. I have no idea who submitted it but maybe that would have made a differance.

I'm done ranting,

Lee

Posted By: Charlie
I hear you Brian; Looks like everyone that was going to sell did and the high grades are in collections now. I really only have 30 or so..mostly commons graded SGC and PSA and 13 of them from the Harris collection...Sounds like a nice collection you have there...Take care
Charlie

Posted By: Charlie
Hi Lee: It may have been worth it to send the Coles card to SGC to see what grade they would give. It does seem high grades are sometimes impossible to get for the "average joe" even though the card should merit it. My experience with SGC however has always been fair for the most part.
