Posted By: Brueso
Have seen some cards slabbed by "SG,LLC" (the seller listed it as being an SGC)- is this someone taking advantage of a similar name, or does SGC have another division like Beckett's various grading companies?

Posted By: Todd (nolemmings)
SG, LLC appears on all current SGC labels, immediately prior to the serial number.

A related question on this old thread: will SGC reholder a card with a 100-point SG, LLC grade and give it a new 10-point grade in the process? For instance, would a card graded SG, LLC 92 be reholdered today as an SGC 8.5? I haven’t been able to figure this out through their web page, and they’re not answering phones during COVID. To be clear (I hope), I’m talking about submitting the card for reholdering not regrading. Thanks!!

Looks like there are multiple email addresses to ask questions on that page.

Yes, thanks. I sent an email to them and have not yet received a response. I was hoping some one here might have some insight.

Last I heard it talked about, it was concerning whether or not they would uphold the Guarantee/Guaranty from the previous owners. The new owners would not, since they were not there when the cards were graded. Then the current owners deleted references to any Guarantee at all from their new website, claiming it would come back. That was over a year ago, IIRC.

You could always send it in for reholdering, and either hope they just do it, or they call you and offer a discount on regrading if they no longer agree to the grades.

I have yet to have an old SG or SBC slab not get reholdered unless the centering was way off. The centering tolerances were much looser back then.

Just heard back from SGC. Yes, they’ll convert the old 100 point grades by SG, LLC and SGC to the new 10 point grades upon reholdering. Thanks again for the earlier responses.
