Posted By: Hankron
I just got an email advertising Venezuelan baseball cards addressed 'To Hank.' 'Hank, these are cards you must own" etc. For those who don't know, I have a dog named Henry, aka Hank. This person, who's English was was not good, must have either assumed Hank was the accepted nickname for Hankron, or my name was Mr. Hank Ron.

Though, to tell you the truth, I could think of worse pasttimes for Henry than collecting Venezuelan baseball cards.

Posted By: jay behrens
I am sure that he did get email address from here since I got them at charter address, which really pisses me off, since it means he had to actually write my address down since I have never lsited it here so that spambot can grab it.

Jay

Posted By: Robert
I also received that email. It must have had a couple of hundred cards listed. I just deleted it because I am not interested in those kinds of cards. I don't remember who it came from. Rob

Posted By: Hankron
'Hankron' used to be my eBay nickname, so I half-thought he got it from there.

I was not aghast or offended, as it was about old baseball cards. If it was about Viagra or Russian brides, it would be another story. I don't want anyone to think I'm against people emailing me about vintage memorabilia, because I'm not. I just thought that it was funny that that the sender took the time to personalize it to my dog.

Posted By: Scott M
I wouldn't speak so quickly against Russian brides, I know many Russian women and though they aren't big baseball fans they are fine women and very tolerant of baseball card collecting by their husbands!!

Posted By: T206Monsta
When you click on the unsubscribe from true TRASH mail, it signals to them that they have "hit" a live e-mail address (solidifying their attemp to deliver). You're in for some real trash e-mail now. I realize you're in Canada so the US code regarding spam doesn't apply.

Posted By: jay behrens
I think what irked me the most about teh email is that it just assumed I was interested in these cards and sent me his entire sales list.

Now, if he had emailed me asking if I was interested and actually tried to establish some sort of raport with me, then I probally wouldn't be irked.

Jay

Posted By: Patrick McMenemy
I also received the spam, so you can bet they picked up the email addresses from either this board or ads in the Vintage & Classic Baseball Colector magazine.
