Posted By: Ben
A few weeks ago I was back home (parents house) for a weekend and my aunt and two little cousins were there to visit. One is 5 years old, the other 8. Cute as hell. They are both really into cards, but they collect ONLY hockey, and ONLY the newest and flashiest sets...I suppose they're too young to blame for that

So I decided to show off my collection (or what was left of it back home) and we started leafing through some of my low grade goudeys and t206's. The two little buggers couldn't stop giggling at first glance! They honestly thought the cards were the funniest things they'd ever seen! maybe its one of those "you had to be there" moments, but it was too cute!

I ended up giving them a few to take home, but I doubt that changed their minds any...anyways, just thought I'd share that little experience with you guys. Especially now, when this board seems to be clogged with all this controversy surrounding the AAA stuff, I just think that we shouldn't forget that our hobby is something to be shared, enjoyed, and laughed about amongst friends once in a while

Posted By: Glen V
Who knows where those cards might lead.

I spent $3 in the first card shop I ever visited. I bought some '57, '58, '61 Topps cards, 2 '52 Bowmans, and a '33 Goudey because they had looked different or had team names that don't exist now. Years later I found them and started collecting again, deciding to get a Topps, Bowman, & Goudey card from every year one was made. Now I'm chasing obscure tobacco and caramel issues. Those different, "funny looking" cards may be the reason I collect cards today.
