Posted By: Dr.Koos
...from ME, but the signature, is a FORGERY! I'd bet every penny I own on it with ANYBODY. ANY FBI forensic lab could tell you that the ink has NOT been dry for over 15 years on this fake Ruth signature.

Posted By: Jaime Leiderman
Well, I guess it can happen!

If they (PSA & Others) don't recognize the difference between an altered card and a non-altered one, just imagine what can happen with a signature.

BTW, I'm not saying the signature is a fake nor legit.

Posted By: Dr.Koos
...you deserve to, and at least you have a good sense of humor. BUT remember, berserk but BEWARE. You can laugh that big butt off rolling around on the floor all day, but don't make those high pitched shrieking laughs while hysterically snapping your neck back....you can crack a vertebrae that way!

Posted By: Mike Williams
I was with the guy that both bought....and consigned this autographed Ruth card. Five (5) minutes after the purchase, it was given to Jimmy Spence who inspected it, and provided a COA. Since then, it was sent to PSA/DNA for additional COA. Now....I'm NOT an autograph expert BUT Mr. Spence is....if he says it's legit, he gets the nod. Care to explain your insight into the sig. not being genuine?

Posted By: fkw
I see nothing wrong with autograph! How are you so certain its a fake? I just compared it to at least two dozen Ruth autographs in major auction catalogs, and there isnt one "red flag" about this one on the '33 #144 Goudey card. If someone was going to forge a Ruth it would be on the sweet spot of a single signed ball............. not an off center Goudey. My opinion Frank

Posted By: Dr.Koos
...gives off a certain "vibe". This is NOT Ruth. I studied Ruth signatures very closely because at one time, about 2 years ago I was interested in pursuing Ruth/Gehrig signed baseballs and documents and knew I'd better KNOW MY STUFF if I started buying those type of items. The letter formation, the distance and angle involved in the space between the end of the 'e' and the 'R', the angle, the 'R' itself, the 'B' and especially the 'e', also the way the signature ends...ALL are off. I've warned people off certain forgeries on Ebay before and off certain fakes (ask Goudey Guy about a Ruth I saved him on). I've even SEEN the same characteristics in this Ruth signature that I've seen in Cobb and Gehrig forgeries before as well, it's NOT an isolated forger. It doesn't "feel" right and looks WAY off to me. Even the color of the ink looks off for 50+ years old ink from what I've observed in examples from museums and official documents. Let a FORENSIC guy check the ink..it's age..the amount of years that have approx. passed since it was applied by allegedly "Ruth" which would have to have been at least 54 years ago. NO WAY. I KNOW that wasn't done. How? Because if it was, PSA/DNA and Spence WOULDN'T HAVE AUTHENTICATED IT. This Ruth is NG, and I'd bet the farm on that!! Ask Richard Simon straight up. I haven't, but I KNOW from reading his site that he KNOWS HIS RUTHS, and there is no way that he wouldn't red flag this one. The bigger I blow it up on my software, the worse it looks! Find a Ruth check (not hard to do) and compare the 'RUTH', compare the 'Babe' if not signed George H. It isn't that terrible as far as Ruth forgeries go BUT it ISN'T RUTH's signature. Have it tested. You'll see.

Posted By: Dr.Koos
...signature itself. And just maybe a forger would figure that since the card already has a value, it wouldn't be suspect AS A FORGERY. But lets do some calculating. Let's say this was signed 7 years ago. What's a Ruth card THIS badly centered, in this grade worth back then? $500? What was an autographed Ruth picture worth back then..maybe $2000??? Hell, why not..right? It does make a compelling, intriguing piece of high desireability. A card signed by Ruth. PERFECT for a signed card collector, but it's NOT an authentic signature in my estimation, and with Ruth, a large man with a fountain pen blobbing away, probably standing up at the ballpark signing this in his big hand...no way! How many Ruth cards were signed so neatly as if sitting at a table at a show with a perfect writing implement in perfect penmanship? C'mon! A real Ruth on a card of this size, with the given space??...Ruth would have written right off the end of the card before he finished it!!

Posted By: Dr.Koos
...it'll take him less than a second to "thumbs down it". Richard is "the Man" when it come to the "Babe". Read his site..the man is amazing! What's really amazing is that I can do this with Ruth because I REALLY delved into Ruth signatures. Richard can do this with just about every Hall of Famer!
