Posted By: scott (runscott)
...and pre-WWI baseball cabinets - any interesting photo interests me.

Also looking for Honus Wagner stuff: old photos, magazine articles, stuff sold in his sporting goods store...yes,dammit, I missed the $59 BIN Wagner bat!!?!?!

For sale: I still have the 1912 NY Giants over-sized postcard proof. Someone recently found the same postcard on Verkman's website for $500 - either he used to own mine and forgot to remove it, or his was actually made from a photo of mine: mine has a spot of paper loss that also shows up on his card. I know this would be an unusual production technique so I suspect Verkman used to own my card. He hasn't responded to emails on the subject, but he could be busy packing a baseball card (looking for shipping materials, etc.) and calculating s&h costs.

1934 R309-1 Goudey Ruth Premium - same one as before, $480 including s&h&ins.

After I finish the article on tobacco card printer scrap, most of my collection will be for sale so that I can afford some of the more esoteric Wagner,Rucker,Reulbach items.

--------------------------------------------
no disclaimer - temporarily taking responsibility for my actions

Posted By: David
I am an avid and active buyer of baseball photographs (real photo) all types, price ranges and from all areas, but especially from the 20th century (1900- present). I prefer to buy large collections and archives, but will always consider single photographs. I also am interested in vintage photographs from other areas, including football and Hollywood.

(image: Carl Mays, who's pitch killed Ray Chapman)

Posted By: Dan Mathewson
Bring me your Christy Mathewson cards, far and wide.

You should see one auction on eBay right now. It's a PSA 9 Matty 1914 Polo Grounds card. The bidding has a day left and the price is already up to $535 !!!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1845138326&rd=1

I dunno if it's me or what, but lately people have been paying sometimes two- or three-times book/market value for eBay auction items! This card is only worth about $300-$350 tops. There are 5 PSA-9's and 2 PSA-10's in PSA's population report already, so it's not like these are rare, I'm just surprised that people are so outrageous and bid crazy these days....

Posted By: Elliot
I thought with all the new posters, I should repost the original guidelines of this thread:

April 24 2002 at 4:16 PM Elliot
Forum Owner
from IP address 152.163.195.176

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've wrestled for some time now regarding the correct policy to have on buy/sell postings on the board. I've received input from quite a number of posters, but, of course, opinions varied from one extreme to the other.

Going forward, I would like to institute the following policy:

1) This thread titled "Classified Ads" will be set up, and all buy/sell posts should be posted in this thread. This will allow people who don't want to read the post(s) to skip them. I will be deleting the recent posts by Jim and Pete, and ask them to repost in this new thread. (To Jim and Pete---sorry for the inconvenience).

2) Classified Ads posts will be restricted to contributors to the board. If you don't want to expand the knowledge base of the board, then you lose the right to post "free" classified ads.

3) I don't want this board to become a "classified" board, so I ask everybody to use discretion regarding the number of posts that they make to this thread.

4) A reminder that there is no "pre-screening" of posters, so conclude transactions at your own risk.

I hope everybody finds these policies reasonable and fair, but please let me know if you agree/disagree.

regards

Elliot
