Posted By: Keith O'Leary
Was rooting around in some stuff I had laying around and thought I'd ask the experts for help.
The first is an uncut frojoy sheet that was purchased at a flea market by me assuming it was a repro and paying minimally for it. I know many of these were produced, but never tried identifying it as such. I have seen blue tinted ones identified as repros, but this one is black. It is printed in the half tone process and looks brand new. How do I identify this as not original?
The second 2 I don't know where I got, but have had them for as long. They are printed on what feels like newsprint and were ripped from some kind of publication I'm assuming. They are 2 sided with the boxing page having the Tom Hyer and Yankee Sullivan fight for $10,000 on the reverse. The Boston team page having a 1592 golf scene identified as "The Sabbath Breakers". Here is some other identifying writing that is included on them. The golf one says printed by G B Dollman RI, the Boston team page says "copyrighted and published by G Waldon Smith Boston 145 Tremont St Boston 1889", the Mitchell and Corbett says "copyrighted 1893 by the Giles Co. Lith NY", "The Great Fight" on the reverse has no such identifying features but says "the print is dedicated to the patrons of PR as an antidate to the knife by their obliged servants entered according to Act of Congress by the New York illustrated Times" (as best I can read it). Anyone ever see these before and does anyone have an interest in any of this stuff? Thanks in advance, Keith
