I figure with the finances the way they are and the good amount of stuff up I will need to go for 1 lot and hope I can go strong enough to get it. With all that being said how rare is the T205 Hindu back? I am in no way disputing what Lew says in his auction I have just found that sometimes there are other things around if you put your feelers out. Anyone have one or know approx how many they might have seen? ALSO, how rare are the Old Put and Niagra overstamped cards....thanks ya'll and as always best regards

I have seen about 4-5 of them over the past 5 years, none of which unfortunately has made it into my collection. In a Mastro auction about a year ago there was a pair of e98 Cobbs, one with a blank back (which I now do own) and one with an Old Put overprint back which I believe is now owned by Doug Allen. I also think that Tbob has one (a Clarke possibly?).

The back is second in rarity<BR>behind Drum in the T205s. <BR><BR>Old Put overstamp caramels are very tough. I've seen Vaughn , also the Cobb in a previous Mastro auction. I bid on the Cobb but it was obviously highly sought after, folks were bidding way high on it.

It is in nice shape and has the entire back present and whole stamp (the only other one I have seen has back damage and only part of the stamp showing). <BR>As far as the T207 Red Cross, super tough. Much tougher than the T205 Hindu, even if an expert like Lew disagrees with me here. I am chasing the Red Cross T207 and am gearing up for a war.

I just picked up a raw Jake Stahl that would grade a 1 due to heavy creasing.

Nice find. Any T205 Hindu is worth getting if you can. I have seen 1 or 2 for sale on this site for a heavy price, never on eBay in the year or so I have been looking.

I haven't really seen anywhere that tracks T205 by back - would love to know the answer to your question as well - and for Drum.

Someone posted a real nice Walter Johnson Hindu some time ago - sweetest card in the set, IMO.

Hindus tend to be rather strong. They are one the rarest tobacco advertising in the t205 set. I would love to see a scan of your Stahl. It is a previously unknown front back combo. It fits the matrix of backs though and should command a nice price at auction. Prices for Hindus have been all over the place for low grade (1's/10s) from $250 to $650...it really is what some one will pay for it. They come up a few times a year. Depending on condition I might be able to give you a better price point for it.

I feel a low grade Hindu is more in the 1k+ range. It is the toughest of all the T205 backs.

I do not feel that is bourne out by any sales lately...most recent sales I have found for 1s/10s (in the past few years) put them far less than $1000...it is the rarest back (other than blank backs) but unless it is higher grade, it should not command that price. But, of course, who knows, it always ends up being worth what someone is willing to pay...

a 3 traded for $1,500 at the National, a bit weak back printing but a 3 none the less. It is by far the toughest T205 back and many seem to need the card, but due to lack of pricing don't feel comfortable paying the full value. A nicer 3 would have probably been $1,800 or so. A 4 was offered in the mid 2's and several offers of 2k+/- were declined by the seller, it had a very strong back.

I would buy any/all graded 1s at at least 500-600 each. Hindu or Drum. Hindu being more desirable. PM me if anyone has any. This is only because I am confident that folks would being to pay 1k.

There is a pretty strong market for Hindu and Drum out there. Here on BST, or eBay, or elsewhere - you'll see some activity. I want one, that is for sure!

I have a graded SGC 30 I would be willing to sell , but it wouldn't be inexpensive. They are so tough to find.
