Posted By: jay behrens
I have noticed that Netscape is now really screwed if you try to use it on this web site. Aside for those damn annoying pop ups every time you change threads, you now cannot see who is in the chat room and you cannot see your own messages. IE has none of these problems.

Jay

Posted By: Bill Cornell
If you use the chatroom, my advice is to use whatever the latest Microsoft IE browser happens to be (currently IE 6).

The chatroom is run by a Java applet that refreshes at a periodic interval (10, 30 or 60 seconds). All browsers have difficulties with applets and will crash when they're running - there's no good way around it. IE 6 is the best bet because despite MS's fight's with Sun (Java's owner), it is the best browser available right now.

If you're using AOL or WebTV, you have a modified version of IE that is less reliable, but still better than Netscape (a dying AOL-owned product). I wish there was a good answer to this problem, but I've learned enough from my day job to state that IE is the best anyone can do right now.

Posted By: leon
I agree with Bill....as the founder of "Leonism's" or computer related problems, I can tell you it sucks. When I use Netscape Communicator it sucks even more. IE is the best for me so far. When in the chat room I have the worst intermittent problems you can imagine. I feel schitzoid or at least I think I am I have found that if I hit reload or refresh every 10-20 seconds the chat will show. It seems as my chat always shows but others chats do not show a lot of the times unless I do what I just said. Sort of narcisstic. When you hit reload and then hit the "start chatting" it refreshes and the messages show up.....maybe it will work for you too.....and please don't anyone think I am complaining, I am not. This is a FREE website for us and I don't look gift horses in the mouth....and thanks again Elliot for trying to help me through my "Leonism's"....regards all..

Posted By: jay behrens
IE works just fine for me. Being a former long time Apple/Mac user, I truly hate using anything Microsoft. I will avoid as much as possible. I still have yet to work up the courage to switch to Linux. As mucha s hate MS, Windows is just a poorman's rip off of the Mac OS and it feels comfortable. Ther eally sad thing is, Windows ME isn't any better than the Mac OS in 1985.

Jay
