Posted By: Lee BehrensI recently received this T206, has anyone seen a back like this. One other question, In the same lot I received two cards with a waxy finish. Any expalination? Where I got these from may be brought up if I continue to receive no response from the seller the lot was a sham. Any help would be nice.<img src="http://www.network54.com/Realm/tmp/1011141305.JPG">

Posted By: petecldA certain amout of stock is used when the printer is setting up the print press. Your card was part of this and was meant to be thrown away but yours was more then likely saved by the printer, hand cut and given to his son. Not fake but also not intended to be sold to the public.

They fell that there might have been two sheets that left the factory like this. Does any one know how many cards are on a sheet? Lee

Many set experts have done a lot of research as to the placement of cards on a sheet, but I do not think there is a definitive answer. The one example that comes to mind is the Honus Wagner proof strip of 5 that I believe Lelands sold a decade or two ago, with it going to Barry Halper and then to Steve Verkman, who then sold it in a private sale. The only other sheet that I've ever heard of, is the one revolving around the T206 Wagner (PSA 8) story...and that's a can of worms I don't want to open.

Posted By: Jim/jverri01I agree: related to printing. On a side-note, I occassionally see backs with the similar "overage" quality - but, not from printing. My theory is that they are cards that had been pasted in scrapbooks, etc. and then soaked. Whoever soaked them out did so too long, and a portion of the back "lifted". They then attempted to "reset" the lifted piece, and as it dried and pressed, it either shifted or simply was done very poorly. The result being an effect that looks like multiple backs, or shadowing. I also remember a couple of cards I had a while back that had TWO layers. My theory on this one is that when the card was redistributed, it was disseminated with a different brand and at a different factory, so a second lighter back was applied. I actually have run in to this several times. Anyone else?

Posted By: Jeff ObermeyerWhile there aren't any T206 sheets know, there are 2-3 known sheets of 1909 Obaks and another 3-4 of 1910 Obaks. The one thing that they all have in common is that there are 19 cards per row, with each sheet having 3-4 rows. While they aren't T206's, they are almost identical for all practical purposes and are made by an ATC brand... I think that it certainly wouldn't be surprising to find out that T206's also came on sheets with 19 card rows.

Posted By: T206museumHi all, I just want to correct and add that most of the Tolstoi we have seen are mostly shifted to the right and only a few of them are shifted to the left. Since we have seen left and right Tolstoi overprints, we believe there were at least two error Tolstoi sheets left the factory. Moreover, for some reasons we have even seen more Tolstoi overprint backs than other brand such as Piedmont and Sweet Caporal.
