Posted By: mike mullins
Hi again!

I know in the past (on the old board, sigh...) we talked occasionally about the T206 printing process. I know sometimes we find off-center cards with a name on TOP of a card, but usually it's the same player's name, isn't it? correct me if I'm wrong...

Anyway, here's one that just ended on ebay that, while it doens't have a name on top, it clearly has the yellow COLORS from a DIFFERENT card on the bottom:

http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1007017199

It has to be from a different card, doesn't it? It's yellow, while the Shipke is blue to the top. Thought this might add something to what we know about how the cards were manufactured...

Does anyone else have a card like this? Maybe it's not as uncommon as I thought. I tried to get it but got sniped at the last second (after sniping various auctions from the same seller myself). Que sera sera...

(ps if anyone has one like this in similar cruddy condition I'd be interested...worth a shot)

mike

Posted By: mike mullins
Hi Julie,

thanks for your response! I agree with you that the black border is not present, but I have a number of cards where the black border does not match up perfectly with the color -- it's either above the color on the white border, or stamped on top of the corner itself.

Also, I think that the yellow is EXACTLY the width of the blue color on the card above it -- look again: the color/stain does not go all the way out to the left and right borders. It is not so clear on the right side because of the angle of the photo, but I think the bottom left corner of the card shows a pretty squared off yellow block.

Perhaps a better photo/scan would help clarify things. I will email the buyer and seller and see if I can come up with something, and I'll let you know when I do.

regards,

mike

Posted By: mike mullins
I now have a better pic of the card (thanks to the seller!). It is located at:

http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/vintagebaseballcardtalk

aka the other vintage card site. Go there, then log in, then look in "Photos" under "big_mik's photos".

Also notice that the green grass on the card is shifted upwards. Maybe just a printing problem.

regards,

mike
