I picked up this premium/photo of DiMaggio with a pre-certified PSA auto.

What I can't figure out is what it is. I assume that it is some type of NY Yankees issued photo or part of a picture pack, but I have not found other examples or information online to put a date to it.

Has anyone seen one of these? Any idea when it was issued? I guess it is possible that it was issued in the '50s, after Joe D retired? It looks like some of the picture packs issued by the NYY around 1956 or thereabouts.

Any help would be appreciated!

Cool photo. Not sure but did find this https://www.invaluable.com/auction-lot/joe-dimaggio-baseball-premium-81a-c-92f4f13be8 and less similar but in the ballpark, https://www.invaluable.com/auction-lot/joe-dimaggio-baseball-premium-75a-c-ac2482e9cc

Does not answer your question but the first one I posted is a close match in the font used for the lettering. I have seen this font used on other players' photos that date to the late 40s. Tried researching them to get an exact date or to identify how they were distributed, etc and got nowhere.

What size is the photo?

Interesting--good catch!
Mine is an 8x10.

These https://postimg.cc/WtjhY8Vf are not mine but they all have very similar font to your Joe D, if not the same. These images are all 8x10 as well. Maybe one of the photo guys can shed some light on this issue.

Thanks. Those are very cool as well. I had not seen that Robinson photo before.

Seems like there are at least three different DiMaggio premiums based on mine and the ones you mentioned from Invaluable, whose descriptions were scant at best (no details were provided about size, etc.). I did a search on eBay recently for completed sales and saw a very similar or identical one (and now, for the life of me, I cannot find it again). Maybe ChatGPT can help (lol) catalog all of them. The font does look more like those issued in the '50s, from what I can tell.

Since the Mantle premiums have now been 'discovered,' maybe I have something new to collect.....

Okay, no luck dating this premium.

Perhaps someone can give a shot at a date on this? Circa 1939 maybe?
It is from a Culver archive, purchased many years ago.

Thanks for any help.

I can't help with the date, but it is a very cool photo. Joe looks very serious.
