I find myself buying raw cards more often these days. For the times when I'm at a show, I'd like to have a hand held black light to help me spot recolored cards.

What brand/model do you use for this?

For me it is usually way easier to see added color by tilting it in the light like when looking for surface wrinkles. Putting on a pair of those cheap 3X reading glasses when doing it also helps. A black light only works if the person who recolored it is a moron and used an ink that glows.

I agree; however, the lighting at card shows is often suboptimal poor horrible.

At home, I'm all set.

One like this is compact, and does both long and short wavelengths.

I love this one because it's plenty bright enough and is slightly larger than a lighter. Super pocket sized, inexpensive if lost, and not annoying in the least to just put in a front pocket. Had this model for a year and no issues.

The one my favorite grader uses...Gempro Eclipse. So I got one and love it. I have no idea about this seller. Lots of places sell them.

Yes it does. "UV Fluorescence Detection". It's a black light on it.
Andy Broome showed this one to me and it works better than any I have seen. Really great, imo,

Quick thank you to everyone. I have some food for thought now. The Philly Show is about two months away. I'll add one of these to my "show bag" for the day.

I've grown tired of paying the "plastic premium" on cards I can inspect in person. After 45 years of collecting, I think it's OK to trust my own eyeballs and experience.

Helpful thread.

I'm an advocate of using UV... it's a must.

I'd not seen the Eclipse GemOro LED Loupe. That may be the one to get. Or that AND a UV light that illuminates a bigger area.

I sometimes thing there should be entry requirements to be on Net54... You have to have read and own The Glory of Their Times, listened to and have the CD version, and own a uv light while understanding why you need it.

I just found this on Amazon... similar, less expensive.
