Can anyone remember a time when you've seen more WTB posts on the BST?

We're going to have to change our definition to "Wanted To Buy"...

I was thinking the same thing ! The WTB requests are off the hook lol

Listings are poor on eBay.

They just keep duplicating listings, and are hoping we don't notice the drop in unique listings!

A huge SNAFU. GDMF seller FOMO, IMHO. Hope it changes PDQ or we collectors are SOL. TTFN.

Lol, AJ. You wrote what most of us are thinking. The worst is when just a card name is written in the subject, and you click into it to learn it’s a WTB.

Me too Josh. I think it speaks to people’s frustrations with eBay and also feeling like you pay fair prices here instead of being gouged there.

I get excited about adding to my PC, what can I say? Haha. It's all in good fun though.

This is annoying. Although most of the time people do put WTB in the headline. Maybe we need separate sections for buyers and sellers.

Hi Leon might be a good suggestion to create the WTB only section... Here's how they do it on rolexforums.com

Awesome idea.
I am also guilty. I only need FIVE more 1954 Red Hearts so I WTB them. Anyone?

If you do a WTB, would it be one section for all eras? Or a WTB section for each era? I don't like the idea, but that's just my opinion.

Or the humans that post here could establish their needs, it's not difficult to post FS vs LTB. If you (not you) need a mommy to tell you what to do this might not be the place for you (not you).

Bumping this to see if it would be feasible to create a separate WTB section. Or maybe we could limit WTB posts of cards we know everyone wants to buy. Goudey Ruth, Mantle, Aaron, Cobb, etc. Anything that sells 5 minutes after it's posted.

Prefacing your post with FS or WTB has always worked well.

I don't think it has anything to do with who is on the card but but more the price that makes certain cards sell in 5 minutes. Seen many overpriced Ruth, Mantle, Aaron, and Cobb cards get bumped over and over that never sell.

It's nice to see a lot of action in the BST section.:)

If the WTB isn't something I am selling or can assist with, I tend to just look down at the next listing and so on. I'm easy like that though.

I don't like the idea either. I went through the sections (quickly):
19th Century - saw 1 but listed as SCG1.5 so I can presume it is a FS
Pre_War - saw only a couple but had grade so can presume it is a FS
T except T206 - saw 1
T206 - couple but listed as SCG30 and PSA A so can presume it is a FS

I don't think the volume dictates a separate section for WTB. I
Again just my opinion.

Please leave WTB in the appropriate sections. I have made a few private sales recently. I do dislike when I see a WTB for a tough/rare card that I WTB (LOL). A common courtesy would be for all members to stick WTB or FS or FT on the listing but it’s not earth shattering. Changing it to FOUND or SOLD afterwards couldn’t hurt either. Common courtesy for fellow members IMO.

Not a huge deal either way, but given the current market it seems everyone is buying key cards, hopefully before the prices get even more out of hand. A separate section for WTB would be my personal preference, just for convenience.

One thing that would be helpful is to know where certain cards should go. E.g. if I am selling a 1980s FB card, I could put it in the Football Cards section (per the rules), 1980s and up Sports Cards, and/or Everything Else.

Agree. Tough wading through the WTB's looking to see what's available

Well, I wouldn't put it in "everything else" as that isn't very specific. The other 2 are good choices. IF members come up with better terminology I am open to changing, just as has been done numerous times in the past. But I only like to change if it is a big help and not a small one. I haven't heard too many groans about this issue. There are several overlapping sections but by the looks of it most members figure out what is best for their sale.

I prefer when listings are consolidated to one post. 4-5 in a row seems a bit much. If it's in the appropriate section then you dont really need to list individually. If just one card then sure.

+1
If anyone PM's me about excessive multiple, same series, threads then I will consider consolidating them. Members should try their best to use as few threads as possible. Common courtesy but I really don't want to have more rules. Other forums do things their way, we do ours our way. :) Caveat Emptor as we are getting over 120 new members every month since the pandemic (and about 2/3 of that pre-pandemic). So lots of new members all of the time. Please always PM me (or Brian or Chris) with any troll-like activity.

and another FS picked up from the BST a few years back

I think it depends on how much exposure you want for the card. If you put it in all three you get triple exposure :>}

I joined Net54 because it was suggested to me that it was the best place to help build my 53 Bowman set. Virtually all my purchases have been eBay, but as it has been mentioned, the same cards offered for sale recycle, the cards tend to be "optimistically" graded, auction prices realized can arguably fetch more than what the card is worth, and the taxes certainly add a considerable expense in purchasing cards over time.

I only need a few upgrades for my set and I figured it would be beneficial to post a WTB listing for some of the cards I need. I also hope that if a collector/dealer who advertises on eBay sees something I need a deal could be made through here which could benefit us both in terms of expenses. Perhaps the increase in the WTB listings may be bothersome to some, but collectors do look for other avenues to fill their want lists.

I have picked up some great cards from the bst too Leon over the years. These are 2 of my favorites.
