Are these Topps T206 buybacks that were redistributed in 2001-2002 legit? I’ve never heard of them until now. And if they are, are they still collectible? It seems like a really cool deal if they were legit. And I wanted to know if they had as much value as a regular T206?

Yes they are legit, Topps just bought the original T206s on the open market and they made a little holder that encapsulates the card so you can see both sides.

They hold no real premium but are worth the same as any other T206.

I've purchased some and just cut them out of the holder. I then had them slabbed by PSA or SGC.

Real cards. Some were trimmed before Topps bought them, but I think the majority have been authentic and unaltered.

There was a scammer on this board who would take the relic cards out of the frames and replace them with common T206s and reseal them, because in the Topps buyback holder they seem to have a 20-50% or so premium.
