I bought a lot of cards and there is this photo in the group. The back says property of Sporting News and has a sticker for John Rogers archive. I have been reading about him and it looks like he has been sued by everyone and their mothers for not returning photos (anyone know anything about this?).

So, any possibility this is a photo of any importance? Believe it's the image on the Old Judge card. Doesn't seem like old photo stock, but I know NOTHING about photos.
I have scans hosted at flickr, and have been trying to put them into this post, but I'm clearly doing something wrong, so please click the links.

Thanks if any experts out there.

appears to be a copy of a much older photo...used in 1880's.

"have been trying to put them into this post, but I'm clearly doing something wrong"

1.) In Flickr - you need to 1st make sure that all images to be shared are marked as "Public" - which yours are.

2.) Bottom Right of your Flickr Photo there is a small "right turn arrow" -click on that.

3.) Select "Embed" tab

4.) Select a "size" - I selected "Medium" here

5.) You will see a URL in the box - copy that and paste into your Net54 post

6.) post your message - Boom - Done

highly doubt even a duplicate photo of the original shot exists, so very unlikely psa would encapsulate this with any type designation. not worth much.

I'm no expert on photographs as some on here, but I think it's interesting. As others have alluded to, it looks like a relatively modern copy. Probably not worth much, but still neat and somewhat desirable at a low price I bet.

It looks like maybe it was a copy of an Old Judge cabinet photo. If you look at the editing marks over the chest they blacked out that area along with making the background white to make the image pop.

Cool image that was widely used it seems. None of these are mine unfortunately, but here are some examples of that image being used.

thanks to all. i'll probably try to sell it on Feebay or here to someone who likes photos. Not even sure how to advertise it, but definitely as a copy of original photo. Not clear on the "property of the sporting news" stamps, i.e., whether that means anything

Likely a second generation photo that spent some time in the Sporting News’ photo archives.
