Hi all, I need an expert opinion. I already have a 1933 Goudey Ruth #53.
Looking to add a second to my collection.

I'm torn between the red back #149, which I can get for $3k or
the #181 which I can get for $2900

See attached for pics of both of them. Wondering what everyone thinks is a better value and a smarter buy.
I have not had much luck lately finding either of these varieties for under $3k for grade of 1 or A or even (MC).

Thanks in advance!

Both in approximately the same rough shape. Red background is definitely more visually appealing to me.

The Red #149 is 1000% "better" than the other one.

From a value perspective, do you think they both are a decent value? I'm ok with a lower grade card because I'll never be able to afford the 3's or the 4's. Just feeling it out if this is a fair price. Thanks

Derek: if you look at eBay sold prices, you can get a decent view of the market price, assuming there are comparable sales. And with Goudey Ruth’s, that is most often the case.

3k or so sounds about right for a 1 in that shape. That red looks a lot better to me. Not even close.
