The thread about Leon's September 5 birthday (Happy Birthday buddy!) which is also Nap Lajoie's birthday got me thinking -

Who is the greatest player born on your birthday?

It may take some digging, but let's try. Mine is April 21, which is QE2's birthday (and one day after Hitler - phew, dodged a bullet there!) but I don't know who the MLB players are... while I look for mine, why don't you post yours -

What MLBers were born on your birthday?

July 17 for me. The only Hall of Fame player born on that day is Lou Boudreau.
Lots of guys that I’ve never heard of too. Surely somebody can beat that.

Going by WAR it's Pinky Hawley (https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/h/hawlepi01.shtml) who pitched through the 1890s and won 31 games the year after he lost 27. 2nd is Christian Yelich.

In football, it's Art Monk. Close behind would be Art Still and Jim Plunkett.

I did this same thread a few years ago:
https://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=214469

At that point I said Mike Piazza and I still think that is the right answer, but I would also add Andrelton Simmons now as a second place player for a Sept 4th birthday.

Okay, there are currently 333 members of the Baseball Hall of Fame. 31 are executives and 10 are umpires. (TEN UMPIRES?!) So that means there are 292 players/managers in the Hall of Fame. That means that, on average, you have an 80% chance that a hall of famer (people who wore the uniform) was born on your birthday.
I have two. John McGraw and Bobby Doerr. I beat the odds.

But my birthday buddy is alas, a year *younger* than me:( and his son is already retired. I feel old.

Finally got around to checking mine. April 21 has to be about the least impressive collection of any date.

My MVP/biggest star is Ken Caminiti - Holy shirt!!

Best pitcher is Gary Peters at 124-103. Jesse Orosco had a long career anyway.

To find anybody else good I have to go all the way to 1855 for Hardy Richardson...

For Nov. 22, which I share with JFK's assassination and is occasionally on Thanksgiving, it looks like Dick Bartell or Lew Burdette. Had he not been murdered, Lyman Bostock might well have topped those two.

NOV 5th

I cannot think of any major BB players who were born on my Birthday (Walter Johnson is on Nov 6th).

Anyhow, Harry Gumbert (15-year ML career pitching for Giants, Cardinals, and Cincinnati) born Nov 5.
Harry was born in Elizabeth, Pennsylvania....I was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Quite a coincidence.

Jim Tabor [9-year ML career (7 with Red Sox and 2 with Phillies) as a 3rd Baseman. His claim to fame
is 3 HR's in a game on July 4, 1939 of which 2 of them were Grand-Slams that were hit in consecutive
innings. This noteworthy feat may be Major League record.
Check-out this coincidence...Tabor was born in New Hope, Alabama...I live in New Hope, Pennsylvania.

Don't mind me, I am fascinated by such type of coincidences.

Furthermore, major celebrities with the same Birthday are Roy Rogers (favorite Cowboy), Joel McCrea,
Art Garfunkle, Peter Noone, Elke Summer, and Vivian Leigh.

Off the top of my mind, they are the notable folks whose Birthday is Nov 5th. I'll do a bit of homework
to see if I can come up with some more.

In the early 1960's there arrived at the studio where the Beatles were recording a demonstration tape from Peter Noone, of Herman's Hermits fame. The piece of tape that labeled the recording read "Peter Noone". Unfortunately, the handwritten label had a slight space between the two o's of his last name. For the rest of his life, the ever sarcastic John Lennon called Peter Noone, "Peter No One".
