I picked this up on EBay recently. Graded by PSA as authentic altered.
One side looks like it might have been trimmed but it doesn't seem way off and why just do one side? Anybody have any views on alteration on this card?

Could be a bunch of things: repaired pinhole, erased writing, pressed out creases, etc.
There does look to be damage where a pinhole would be made. Did someone try to paste over it?

Actually, looking harder at it, I think the left border is trimmed.

Borders are way too small and tight to the photo portion on that example. Trimmed.

E220’s naturally had pretty large borders. The centering on E220’s is off-the-charts terrible and apparently there I was little to no quality control on even the size of the overall cards as they vary quite a bit. All that being said I have handled several hundred cards from this set and have never seen that tight of a border.

Yeap, E220s have some of the most horrible cuts of any caramel cards but they do have borders :)

From my last collection and I wouldn't be surprised if the bottom card is trimmed...

The cuts you'll find on these card is fascinating. In my opinion the card is trimmed on two sides. That being said there doesn't need to be any other alterations like color added for PSA to label it altered.

PSA slabs cards that are trimmed (with no other alterations) with "Authentic Altered" on the label as standard practice now.

There's nothing like a well-centered E220 card! :D

Left side trimmed for sure.

That's a beautiful Johnson card, but, with E220's, a perfectly centered card looks unusual. Almost out of place. I have quite a few of the E220's, and they have helped me overcome my aversion to miscut cards.

Or PSA 10 :)
