Curious to see what Deadball Era snapshots of Major Leaguers are out there. No press photos please, snapshots only!

I'll start it out with this 1911 snapshot of Three Finger Brown at the Palace of the Fans. Note his mangled hand which he typically obscured for photos. Also note the outfield view of the Palace of the Fans mere months prior to its demolition.

Two other pretty decent Deadball Era pitchers: Walter Johnson and Ed Walsh.

George Browne, from Matty McIntyre's personal scrapbook. Picked this one up through RMY a year or two ago:

It's a shame that John Rogers shredded that photo album. I ended up with a bunch of them from the original sale on ebay, but it wasn't until I got them in the mail that I realized he had cut the album up and sacrificed many of the photos that were on the reverse side of the pages. If he wanted to part it out he should have had a conservator remove the photos.

I hope he's still in jail.

I would have loved to flip through the original album.

Interesting that so many of them were taken in Spring Training. Here is another one taken in Spring Training 1917 or 1918 of Tubby Spencer of the Tigers while training at Jungle Park in my hometown of Waxahachie, Texas. Thanks Deron!

Snapshot of famous author Ring Lardner dressed in a Chicago White Sox uniform for whatever reason. Another shot taken during spring training around the 1916 season. Good stuff guys, keep them coming.

Excellent thread!! Love them all!!!

I just finished my research on this Aug, 21 1897 Boston Beaneaters vs. Pittsburgh Pirates game snapshot. Thanks to several members for guidance!

Jim Gardner on the mound, Bob Allen at bat, Billy Hamilton is on 2nd and Fred Tenney is on 1st- about to commit a double steal! It was "Sliding Billy's" 775th career steal (adjusted).

Game action shots of Cobb in 1913, all explained by the scoreboard. Standing on the bag at first after a single and motoring past first on the way to third for a triple. Grace in motion!

A lot of great stuff in this thread.

Here's a couple. First is Dummy Taylor and Leon Ames at Giants spring training, 1906. Love that the snap has its own little mount:

https://i.ibb.co/9vKHgtp/1906-Ames-Taylor-sm.jpg (https://ibb.co/26V3hNF)

Next is a group of snapshots of the Polo Grounds found in an album entirely from 1901. So these are quite early for the type of photos they are, and probably the earliest wide-shot, in-game photos I've seen of the Polo Grounds. For their small size, scanned large the images are surprisingly sharp and hold an incredible amount of detail:

A couple of them a bit larger. Note the ump behind the plate, and then behind the pitcher:

This is a pretty cool action shot from the 1905 championship winning Giants. This was part of a bigger presentation that had about 10 photos. i was lucky enough to win my favorite. Dont see many type 1's of Bill Dahlen (and there probably arent any of Bob Hall)

Nice pickup on the Dahlen/Hall photo, Sean. I managed to get a few of the ten photos myself. Lots of guys represented there that have been near impossible to find original/type 1's of.
