View Full Version : 5000 net54 Post Club Thread

Just like 500 homers and 3000 hits and 300 wins...there is the 5000 post net54 club...

Some day when i get there, I will get to rub elbows with the bnorths of the world and ulmandds, republicaninmass, peter S., clydepepper and the like...

i know its rare air to be in this company.

i hope i am worthy.....from this point on in the thread, the hope is only people with 5000 or more posts (or someone closing in on the record) on net54 to post their wise opinions on this thread and grab a drink ,

as with ichiro his march to 3000 was different than other 3000 hit players...many of his hits were singles aka 'nice card' and not doubles or homers (analysis of blank back/error cards)

welcome all (worthy members ) to the 5000 post club!

bnorth

I would grab a drink with anyone on here.

I don't think I got many singles associated with my posts.:)

Like me or hate me I can guarantee I have never lied on this forum or screwed over a single member in what has to be close to 1000 transactions by now.

Have a great day everyone!:)

I'm not sure if the 5,000+ posts I have made are as 'noteworthy' as the others...just retired with too much time on my hands...and my rate has decreased since I lost the fire of collecting. (once you sell a Babe the writing's on the wall)

I do try to contribute from time to time but I usually bow to those higher up the hobby food chain than I - and there are lots of those.

I have enjoyed this forum...most fun since I quit playing.

Like Mr Culpepper I am also retired and have been for some time. That accounts for many of my posts, I just have a ton of free time. I have averaged 2.39 posts a day.

Maybe we should have a card set of our own? Sort of like the old Topps 1000 yard gainer inserts or something.

I had never really paid attention to my post count number. I have way fewer posts than I thought I would. That being said, if I actually posted every time I had a response written out I would probably be in the dubious 5,000 post club. I always ask myself Right before I click submit “am I really adding anything to this discussion or to the community by posting this” and probably 4 out of 5 times the answer is no so I delete it. :)

I limit myself strictly to informational, insightful posts that further our mutual understanding of the vintage cards we collect. Thusly, I have not attained 5k post status. When I do, the post will undoubtedly be as mutually beneficial as all my other posts.

Instead of editing the original post, I thought I would point out that the last sentence in the post I quoted above would probably read better if I had not left out the word "of". This sentence should read:

"When I do, the post will undoubtedly be as mutually beneficial as all OF my other posts." I think we can all agree how mutually beneficial this new post is.

right and just like some players took 22+ years to get 3000 hits and others much less , im sure some posters took many more years than others to reach the famed 5000 post club..

for some its a career longetivity accomplishment, for others they just had many elite all star seasons to get to that number in a much faster way... the join date is our rookie year..

Don't these post counts start with the new site/forum from 2009 on? I seem to remember Archive had a lot from the old forum. I would not be worthy even if you added my old and new together but that's because I am a lowbrow. Might have to start a 500(I mean 800 :) )and under club. We can drag our knuckles together.

Except for the sudden 'relevance' diminishment seen in his last 4 posts, Scott probably has one of the highest ratio of quality posts on this forum. I would have about 1000 posts too, if I could just keep my attempts at humor at bay. I still think I attain a 20-25% usefulness/helpful/semi-interesting posting ratio.

right this was addressed as slugging percentage....some have mostly singles 'nice cards' like ichiro...others have a lot more power and a much higher posting slugging percentage....

however the number of 5000 plus posters is still pretty small so to be a member of the 5000 hit club there is no discrimination as to lack of slugging percentage or other methodology...

I feel like I've seen a way to sort members by post count, but I can't recall it off the top of my head.

At my current pace, I should hit 5,000 posts sometime in 2039. Now 5,000 useful posts will take a bit longer. :D

Edit: Community>Members List>Search Members>Advanced Search>Enter 5,000 in 'Post count greater than or equal to'; resulting list yields 37 members. Though it doesn't order them or list their post totals.

So thus I am officially announcing my new vintage sports card auction company. It will be named "Win and Pay Promptly." I am still working on the business model for this.

It's time to establish the brand new advanced stat of PEBL (Posts Excluding Bump Lingo).

If the number of 'bumps' (and other ways of bumping a thread) were eliminated from my count, I'd probably be down to around 150 total posts...and I ain't alone.

Do you have a lot of 'ballast' in your post count number? Figure it out with PEBL.
