Troy. Best of luck with the sale. Some oddities in this auction.

Incidentally, the tilted kilt has closed for good. So Portland has that going for it which is nice...

Constructive criticism:
I love the selection, but I could really use item descriptions/titles and better pictures in order to know what to bid on online. Like the identified real photo postcards, the graded cards that I have to open the preview page to see what they scored, and the lack of condition information on items.
And identification of oddball items like the Williams/Yaz stamps; if you can find out what set and year they're from, they might sell for more. Taking the time to improve the item listings online will generate more income for your auction, over and above the expense of the research and writeups.

Add: website functionality on your main site is lacking; ability to sort items by sport or decade or type (unopened, singles, photographs, autographs, etc) would really help people navigate the items. And the images that only allow mouseover to see parts of the image and not a full blow-up image are annoying.

http://auctions.sacoriverauction.net/Babe_Ruth_Fro_Joy_Uncut_Sheet-LOT16700.aspx This item is counterfeit and not listed as a replica/fantasy/fake on the page.

http://auctions.sacoriverauction.net/1952_Topps_Red_Back_Complete_Set-LOT16703.aspx Would benefit from back scans or at least a line stating that the backs are clean/not removed from scrapbooks/written on.

http://auctions.sacoriverauction.net/1963_Post_Cereal_Mickey_Mantle_Card-LOT16708.aspx This is a Jell-O, not Post. Mantle was a SP in Post that year, and heavily overproduced on the Jell-O boxes. You can tell by the width of the card and the red line through the stats.

http://auctions.sacoriverauction.net/1971_Topps_Football_Christmas_Rack_Pack_Unitas_On-LOT16857.aspx Christmas Rack Packs should have an authenticity disclaimer that they are not original and are considered aftermarket repacks which may have been made in any year.

Hi Scott, I agree with John's questions. Some of the descriptions are vague. Your photos are able to be magnified, but they cannot be enlarged.

Also, I spent 20 minutes on your website, looked through the FAQ's, etc, but I can't find any info about the auction closing method. Apparently, live bidding starts at 5pm Eastern, but then what? By live, do you mean in-person? Can online bidders still bid after the live auction starts? How do individual auctions close?

I have a lot of bids in, plus some items that I am watching, so I would like to find out.

Thanks, Rick

Hi Rick,

This is a live auction without an audience(stupid corona virus). At 5PM Est. we begin by opening 1 lot for live bidding beginning with Lot #1. When we open a lot, bidders on the internet can bid on the item, as phone bidders will also be bidding and any pre-bids are executed at that time. When we are sure we have received all the bids on that item, we sell it(close the lot). We then open the next lot and so on.

Thanks

Hi John,

Thanks for taking the time to point out flaws so that we can address them and make the auction experience better for the buyers. I agree with your ideas and we will work towards improving the descriptions in the coming sales. We deal with an enormous amount of stuff and although we are very well versed in the hobby and the merchandise we handle, we are always learning and bumping into new items, or items we don't see often. We always strive to improve and self educate in order to be better with each and every sale.

As far as the ability to make images larger, I will check with the company who built my bidding site to see if that functionality can be added. You make also want to check out Invaluable/Auction Zip and see how their sites work(they also host our sales).

I do have the functionality to sort on my end by sport or type, however I need to do it before the auction get posted, so I will address that in the future.

Again, Thank You for taking the time, we will work on these things.

Starting in half an hour, online and phone bidding only. Had a good conversation with Troy and he said he would follow up with the winners of the lots I mentioned and provide a money back guarantee if it was misrepresented. Stand up guy!

Fun auction. Man those modern cards had some bidding wars. Snagged quite a few vintage items (real photo postcards, Ted Williams items) for resale.

That was quite an auction! There was a LOT of bidding and the items that I was watching and bidding on went for much higher than I anticipated. I would guess the consignors are very happy. I like the one by one lot ending, just like a live auction.

Great job!

Thank you Rick and John for your kind words and your business. We will be running again with a smaller auction on May 28 and another large one on June 8. Thanks Again
