This morning my YouTube feed pointed me to a 7 minute video describing 2020 renovations to Dodger Stadium. I've got to say the stadium looks great!

I grew up in Southern California and attended my first game in the early 60s thanks to my best friends Dad Mr Platt (Tim). I also remember selling subscriptions to the Los Angeles Herald Examiner to earn points for trips to Dodger Stadium.

You hear stories how shocked kids were when they saw how green the grass was when attending the game, and I remember the same thing. Remember what few games we saw on TV were in black and white. Another thing I remember about attending games was the smell of cigar smoke rolling through the stands.

We moved to Los Angeles in 1960 so I was able to see a few games at both Wrigley Field and the Coliseum. When Dodger Stadium opened, my cousin and I would take a bus from Hollywood to Downtown L.A. and then another bus to the stadium. The view of the field when you come through the tunnel was breath-taking. In the 1970's, my ex-father-in-law had 8 season seats on the rail in the first deck (below the press deck), between home and first. They had to be the best seats in the stadium.

As a funny aside, I heard that the season tickets were one of the few items the family fought over when his estate was being settled. lol

Don't forget about the Dodger Dogs. My gosh, they were good, sometimes with a slight burn to the outer skin. And you could smell the aroma from 100 feet away.

I can still hear Vinnie selling it - "Farmer John... The Eastern-most in quality, and the Western-most in flavor".

Better days!

Seeing a game there on a beautiful LA day at the top of my baseball bucket list currently.

Now if they would just run the train to the stadium so it doesn't take 90 minutes to go 11 miles.

I also grew up in LA and went to many Dodger games in the late 60s and early 70s. One great memory was when my seat number appeared on the stadium scoreboard to let me know that I had won a big carton of Dodger Dogs to take home. We ate them for weeks. Good times indeed!

Oh man you guys are bringing back memories. Went to my first Dodger game in 1969 and continued until the early 80's when I moved to San Diego. You often hear stories of stepping out of the tunnel and seeing the green grass, brown dirt etc...well it's so true. It's probably not such a big deal now, but back in the 60's, color TV's were not especially true as far as color. Just something about seeing the colors of the stadium and the field...and then the bright white of the uniforms and the vivid blue of the lettering. Also loved when the Cardinals were in town and those uniforms with the beautiful red birds on them. Wow.
Also, Dodger dogs were a must. Best dogs in the league, but also had to have a Carnation Malt. Good times indeed.
