The coin grading companies use the term "DETAILS" in
a similar way the cards graders use "AUTHENTIC."

On the coin slabs, it will usually say the approximate
grade range of the coin had it received a real grade
along with a reason.

Does anyone think this would solve any problems if
a similar designation was added to "Authentic Altered"
slabbed cards.

maybe "ALTERED ~ VG DETAILS" or "ALTERED ~ NM QUALITIES"

Moot point if PSA can't identify altered cards.

Otherwise, a fair idea to think about.

IF and that is a HUGE IF - the TPG's were competent at detecting alteration - I think it would be more helpful to know WHAT alterations had been detected (similar to CGC comic books) rather than what approximate grade it is in with alteration.
