JACK DUNN

Don't know who he is? Google him.

Let's hear some opinions on his worthiness:

They'd have to put Lefty O'Doul in first. I can't think of anyone in already who got in for their contributions to minor league baseball. Dunn and O'Doul would be my picks though.

Here is the baseball "John Dunn" www.sabr.org/bioproj/person/e1addacb

Since he bought the Baltimore team in the fall of 1909, that would make his 1910 COUPON card an "owner, player, manager" card. Pretty cool...(Here's an old scan, I have since traded one away.)

My bad, I posted a "Joe" Dunn card. The Jack Dunn is the semi-horizontal T206 one. I need to get one of those. Rob

edit to add a T205 Dunn listed by Dean's...I believe this would be an owner/player/manager card...

Chris, what am I missing here? Jack Dunn had a career .245 BA and 4.11 ERA. Is this is the player you're talking about?

Definately not getting in due to his playing career. Read the Sabr link above, he did a lot after he retired from playing.

The SABR article indicates that he did not use a fielder's glove. His T206 shows him using one. Evidently at some point he started wearing a glove.

As long as I have a Horner cabinet of him I will support his candidacy :)

Joking really - I personally don't think he has much of a case if O'Doul can't even get considered.

Why not Adam Dunn?

While we're talking about Lefty, here's a beautiful San Francisco Seals vs Oakland Oaks line up card from 1950:

Jimmy Ryan should be in. Been saying it for years.

Better question is why Adam Dunn?

My only O'Doul. I too think he deserves to be in the Hall as well.

Always liked that card. Probably one of the very few cards with those characteristics of the player.
