I was going off-topic in my own thread, so I thought I'd start a new one on Ed Sweeney, who appears in a lot of pre-war sets. Here are a few to start...

Great stuff, y'all. Thanks for posting those. I like the 1915 Postaco stamp. It clearly id's him as "Ed". Does anyone have or know of a Sweeney card that has the name "Jeff" on it? Rob

Rob,
Great Victory!

Here's the Type 1 companion to your T215-2.

(Edited to remove the standard "card in holder" scan...I'm liking the closeup scans without the holder getting in the way...)

Here is a E90-1 card of Bill "Don't call me Jeff or Ed" Sweeney. One of the tougher E90-1 cards, and I have always loved the look of it too. Still don't have one, but thought I would show a beater example anyway, as that would be what I would do if I had one.

That T215-1 is a great card, Steve.

Brian, do you have the Ed Sweeney, NY?I know it's easier than the Bill Boston nat. in e90-1

Gary, those photo's are nice. Thanks for posting them.

I have not found a card that refers to Ed as "Jeff", but his T201 (image via ebay) says "Edward J.Sweeney" when his middle name should be Francis....

Thanks for reminding me about Cracker Jack. The AH's seem to go by the TPG designation...Here (not my card, for educational purposes only) the PSA flip follows the name on the back...

That National Police Gazette "Eddie" Sweeney item is nice, Gary. September 1910, known as "Eddie".

Here's a page from 1969, The Baseball Encylopedia. I don't see any "Jeffs" on the "Sweeney" page.

That is a nice T215. Nowadays I think I like seeing cards without the holders with errant opinions on them.
