Rough week for Pittsburgh sports with former Steelers' coach George Perles's passing and now Hal Smith.

Damn, that's the 3rd player in less than a year from the 1960 championship team. I was hoping they'd all make it to the 60th reunion. I believe there are only 12 members left.
R.I.P. Hal Smith.

To the best of my knowledge, nine players remain:

Catcher Bob Oldis
Pitcher Vernon Law
Pitcher ElRoy Face
Shortstop Dick Groat
Second baseman Bill Mazeroski
Infielder Dick Schofield
Outfielder Joe Christopher
Left fielder Bob Skinner
Center fielder Bill Virdon

Brian,
I think we were both wrong. Your list is correct, plus Roman Mejias and Bennie Daniels, so it looks like 11 still living.

One time I am more than happy to be wrong.

Roman Mejias and Bennie Daniels added to the list.

Maz just sold a ton of his estate and moved to Philly. Wanted to be closer to grandkids I believe. Wish I had not missed that one.

Great team. RIP Hal.

My all-time favorite player. I got the chance to meet him at the Robert Morris show many years ago. A true gentleman. Rest in peace.

RIP Mr. Smith. He was kind enough to sign a 1960 Topps Pirates team card for me a few years ago.
