Are any players still alive that played in the 1930's

Are any players still alive that played in the 1930's or have a baseball card that was issued in the 1930's ? I haven't found any in my brief research. Thanks.

Eddie Robinson and George Yankowski are the two players still alive who began their career the earliest, both in 1942.

I would say that there is very little chance of any players from the 1930's still being alive. While it is possible just remember that an 18-20 year old rookie from the 1939 season would be turning 99-101 years old this year.

I believe HOF'er Bobby Doerr, who passed away a couple of years ago, was the last living player that was pictured in PreWW2 card sets.

After additional research, I found 6 players that are still alive that played prior to 1946. Not many left in the "pre-war 1945" era. I haven't been able to find any baseball cards of these players prior to 1946. Eddie Basinski has a 1947 Tip Top Bread card.

Here's the six players I found (with their debut):
1. George Yankowski 8-17-42
2. Eddie Robinson 9-9-42
3. Chris Haughey 10-3-43
4. Eddie Basinski 5-20-44
5. Tommy Brown 8-3-44
6. Don Hasenmayer 5 -2-45.

Glad to see George Yankowski is still going strong! I grew up in Watertown MA not far from him, and I believe he still lives there. He was my dad's HS baseball coach there in the 1950s after his brief playing career ended.

I grew up in Waltham. I started writing players when I still lived there. It was pretty cool to write players who lived one or two towns away like him and Wilbur Wood. I remember getting his autograph in the mail back in the 1980's.

George Yankowski is currently living in the villages Florida and is still active at age 96 (96). George loves to talk about his playing days and does so at many of the sports clubs in the villages.

Yeah I hear ya. I was troubled by the fact the there's a player on that list (#185 Minnie Mendoza) that had his major league debut in 1970.
