I posted 3 threads in BST practically the same day and time, all with very similar content, and all with pretty bare titles.

FS: 1957 thru 1959 topps 116 views
FS: 1960 thru 1964 topps 64 views
FS: 1965 thru 1969 topps 131 views

interesting that 60 thru 64 has gotten half the attention of the other two threads.

i do think 1965, 1967, and 1969 are three great designs, and 60,61,62 aren't as attractive (IMO)

any other ideas why 60 thru 64 seems to be getting less love?

thats interesting... I think many consider 66 and 67 as more popular

Could be the " age range" of people on the forum too

More vintage and design appeal to the late '50s (compared to the others). Much better rookie cards from '65 to '69.

So the early '60s sets may be just forgotten by more people. They lack anything to grab much interest, except for Rose

1968 Topps doesn't get the love either.

Appropriately, IMO. :)

I think 1961 and 1962 get less love could be due to the abundance of cards in both sets that have head shots of players with no hats.

I think this was due to the two years having expansion teams so Topps used a lot of those photos.

I do like the cards from those years that show the players cap and uniform.

I have a soft spot in my heart for the "68 set as it was the first year I really collected. I think they're a great set. I liked the backs of the cards, bright and upbeat, with all the info on the player including the cartoon. I had just become a baseball fan that year and it was an education reading the statistics and realizing who was a good player. Of course, that kind of thing can be said about other years as well. And then you had the Rookie of the Year trophies on certain cards like Carew and Seaver. "Oh, they must be good!"

I guess I can see how the set might not grab someone, but I think it had a unique flavor all it's own, and I mean that in a positive way, of course.

The '69 set kind of took it up a beat, with the white border. There was something about the pictures too. It was a very distinguished set. It's sort of like they took the '68 set and clarified it or something. But I dig 'em both.

I was never crazy about the '62 set. The whole set is kind of somber, from the wood grain paneling borders to the pics. Even the backs. I think there are some people though who really like the wood grain border. And of course, it was kind of reprised in 1987.

Plus the 62 Maris in the collection of Kivas Fago was featured in a Star Trek Next Generation episode, so the set has interstellar recognition

Much like the 60's, themselves, the sets are all over the board. Very keen observations about the expansion clubs and hatless head shots.
I hated the 62 design (and 68) my whole life. Oddly, about 5-6 years ago, I bought a couple of 62's and really liked them and now collect them. I have NO idea what the heck happened?!? Lol
...still hate the 68's...

Now you gotta buy some '68's!

Only kidding, we all have our likes and dislikes...

while not the first set I looked to put together long ago, I enjoy looking at the 62's in the summer. Don't ask me why. It's probably my 4th favorite of that decade. The Maris, Mays, Clemente and Yaz are definite favorites. I do not like the 61 or set sets. and won't collect them. 61 I hate the format. 69 I hate 1) the diamond cut so many cats have and the expansion effect of the photos. I'm also finding that the 76's were a poor job in terms of cuts and centering. I can never find a decent Brett.
