View Full Version : Best place to find a picture (or pictures) of Babe Ruth

Looking for help here from the boards. I was a lucky winner in the Ruth auction. I was hoping someone may know of good places to find pictures of Babe Ruth in his apartment (holding a bat).
In particular, I'm looking for the attached image if it can be found bigger. This is actually from a Conlon collection baseball card from 1942.

I did scour Getty Images and couldn't find this one.

Didn't find that one, but found one on the internet that shows Ruth seated in what could be his home.
Edit...my photo was not helpful, so it has been torn asunder in image hell.

Are you trying to locate a picture of babe with the store model bat that was in the auction ?

From memory I believe the 2 or 3 store model bats sold in the auction were circa 1970s so of course they couldn't be the exact same bats pictured with Ruth.

I think a lot of collectors on our forum collect (as well as buy and sell) Ruth photos. And I am sure some know of good places to look but maybe they are their honey holes :). Maybe a little more exposure to the question will help? Good luck in the hunt.
Many years ago my friend had access to Ruth negatives from a NY paper and I made contact prints of all the negatives. Negatives were 3x5 so I used 4x6 paper.
Though not the exact image, the contact print was taken the same time as the image you posted.
The photos were taken on January 31,1942 before Babe went to Hollywood to film "Pride of The Yankees"
