Seems like we have done a few different iterations of this game in the past, but haven't seen one in awhile. I always think they are fun, because 1) gives a good sense of the market and 2) maybe someone can make a deal or a pick up a card they have wanted.

I will go first and let you know what I would buy at these prices... would love for you to play along as well:

$1k - low grade 1934 Babe Ruth Goudey Premium
$3k - low grade 1921 Babe Ruth Exhibit
$5k - M101-3 Sporting Life Ty Cobb postcard
$10k - 1914 CJ Ty Cobb PSA or SGC 1

I’d buy the 1914 CJ Cobb for $10k. I wouldn’t buy anything for $1k, $3k or $5k.... rather, I would save my money until I had $10k to buy the 1914 CJ Cobb

Love this hobby and how many ways there are to collect. I almost never spend more than $1k on a card so I would probably do the opposite and spread the wealth....

Hmm... kinda missing the point. The goal was, if someone gives you $1k or $3k or $5k or $10k and you could only buy 1 card at each of those values, what would you buy...

1k - a g-vg E107 common.

3k - E107 common in EX condition or a beater HOFer.

5k- E107 HOFer in fr condition

10K- an E107 HOFer in vg-ex

I think there are a lot of cards that could take off in the future. The way the Goudey Ruth's , Cobb T206s and the T206 portraits have risen lately is amazing. A great spiral up in the last few years. And I thought they were already up! I am not sure what 1k,3k,5k or 10k would be the best spent on but I thought that this Ruth for under 5k, given the condition, was a pretty good buy. Do Ruth and Cobby have a ways to go, who knows?
