This movie looks like it might be worth seeing. It's about a baseball player who was born deaf. It is based on a true story.

Player's name was Dummy Hoy who played professional ball from 1888-1902.
I never heard of him before and was wondering whether there are any cards made of him.

Didn't they come up with hand signals for Hoy and that's where today's hand signals originate from? I could be remembering wrong, but I thought I read that once.

Hoy is seated at left during his time with Oshkosh in 1887. Also on the team was HOFer Tommy McCarthy.

Nice if people learn about Hoy, but that may be the worst movie trailer I've ever seen.

The movie looks interesting, but the clips make me believe it will suffer the fate of many baseball movies — non-ballplaying actors playing ball. I saw no evidence in the lengthy trailer of any baseball talent.

Can't judge a movie by its trailer. As long as it has to do with baseball, I will make sure that I see it.

I did a search on Baseball Reference to see how many players had the name Dummy. There were 7. Were all these players named Dummy because they had a disability like deafness or other?

Dummy Hoy (1888-1902)
Dummy Taylor (1900-1908)
Dummy Leitner (1901-1902)
Dummy Deegan (1901)
Dummy Lynch (1948)
Dummy Murphy (1914)
Dummy Stephenson (1892)

I just did. If the clips that the producers wanted to use to advertise the film display such poor acting and writing, bad enough that it's difficult to tell if the film is meant to be taken seriously or to be seen as a parody of the Hallmark film genre, I'm happy to extrapolate that the movie is nothing special.

Have to agree no matter how important the awareness. If the trailer is best-foot-forward, well...

BTW, Anne Lockhart is the daughter of June, the latter having a tremendous career in both film and television, but is best known as "Mom" from the original Lassie series and Lost In Space.

You are right on the money. My god, what a bunch of trite junk!!! The trailer looks like a collection of outtakes from a 'Little House on the Prairie' episode written by a little kid. And I won't even mention the ridiculously stupid fake mustache on that main character.
