Glad to add a few wrappers to my 1933 & 1934 sets. You can see Goudey's transition across those 1933 wrappers from a) "Free picture of Babe Ruth" -- sending a single Ruth premium to b) "Pictures of big league stars" -- their 4-card set of both All-Star teams and that year's World Champs.

Great stuff so far. Here is an rppc of a game in Antelope Montana...seems most or all of the town showed up for it. It looks a bit sparse though. Where are the bathrooms?

From Wiki - "As of the census[5] of 2000, there were 43 people, 21 households, and 11 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 532.7 people per square mile (207.5/km²). There were 24 housing units at an average density of 297.3 per square mile (115.8/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 100.00% White.

There were 21 households out of which 23.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 38.1% were married couples living together, 4.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 47.6% were non-families. 47.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.05 and the average family size was 3.00.

In the CDP, the population was spread out with 18.6% under the age of 18, 16.3% from 18 to 24, 14.0% from 25 to 44, 34.9% from 45 to 64, and 16.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 46 years. For every 100 females there were 168.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 169.2 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP was $16,500, and the median income for a family was $16,500. Males had a median income of $21,250 versus $15,250 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $5,455. There were 28.6% of families and 22.4% of the population living below the poverty line, including 26.9% of under eighteens and none of those over 64."

-Baseball, Ken Burns.

...in it's entirety, still gives me goose bumps:

“It is played everywhere. In parks and playgrounds and prison yards. In back alleys and farmers' fields. By small children and old men. Raw amateurs and millionaire professionals. It is a leisurely game that demands blinding speed. The only game in which the defense has the ball. It follows the seasons, beginning each year with the fond expectancy of springtime, and ending with the hard facts of autumn. It is a haunted game, in which every player is measured against the ghosts of all who have gone before. Most of all, it is about time and timelessness. Speed and grace. Failure and loss. Imperishable hope. And coming home.” - John Chancellor, Narrator in Ken Burns’ ‘Baseball’

Yes, thanks -- it's one of seven cards in the set where they reused artwork from other players. (Seven assuming that Bressler exists and is reused artwork like I've guessed in my MB thread.)

Got it, thanks. So they got lazy on artwork in this set, theE91 set (where Tinker is identical to Wagner- looks like Tinker get shafted often), any others? I guess no need to answer that- it’s real OT - just thinking aloud.

Steve any idea who is the real player (of the 7)?

Picked up another Patrick Moran T207 that took a little longer to reach me. The seller, who I have previously purchased cards from, accidentally mailed me an Otto Knabe T207 instead of the Moran T207 I won.

First time I have ever received the wrong card in 30 years of collecting.

Better late than never.

Jeff, Pied. 350 Tubby ...................... :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Few back up grades:

Two Sov. 350 ---> 150
Two Date Stamp HOFs

347791

Two "toughies." Cycle Sweeney is a card that has eluded me for a long time......

McLean only non-Pied/SC backs are Carolina Brights (out of my range), EPDG, PB, and Tolstoi. I was discussing my back upgrade wish list with my friend Luke. We agreed that McLean is probably one of the hardest, and I figured my PB (which is pretty tough anyway) would be fine .........

A few days later I was sitting on my front porch (next to collecting T206, it's my other hobby :)) watching the azaleas bloom. My mail man scans, and hands me a package; not expecting anything. See it's form Luke, open, and inside is the Tolstoi McLean !!!!!! (Oh, btw, Luke refused any compensation, just reconfirming for the n'th time, what a great guy his is :):):):):))

That 1933 Goudey Jimmy Foxx card is one of my favorites!

I'm ecstatic. I just acquired a 1911 T-205 "Home Run" Baker (Hassan back).

David, that Graham is the cat’s meow. You beat me to it by minutes and made the smart decision to close the deal. Congrats. If you ever look to sell it, I beg you give me a shot. AWESOME.

I haven't seen this version of Wambsganss before. Always thought Cobb was the only Holsum with two versions....

I finally bought a Joe Sewell card. I probably paid too much. Not the first time, nor will it be the last time either.

Not baseball, and I don't really know much about this set, but for less than $30 delivered, I couldn't pass this up.

Dave, I think both Holsum versions have been found for several players. FYI, I have both Holsum versions of Sam Rice.

My pursuit of cards for my Sam Rice master collection reached the point a few years ago where acquisitions became few and far between. So, I was totally stoked when this rarity (1 of 1) arrived in the mail yesterday (Mike, thanks again!), and it also helped reduce my disappointment at being the under bidder on the card I most wanted in the REA Auction, this N370 Lone Jack card: https://bid.robertedwardauctions.com/bids/bidplace?itemid=54711

Man, I love this whole page .... Just great variety of players, sets and type of cards.

I'm hoping to find any cards of Ira Thomas - Detroit or Philadelphia A's. (1908-1914)

He's from the town near me.

Great T213-1s!! New pick ups- one from REA and one private, both are brown old mills. Also picked up a t206 Matty portrait PSA 6 and a t206 Frank Chance Red Portrait, Brown Hindu PSA 6, but can’t get pics to post. Excited for the mail to come

Asphaltman - you are correct, Disney is a fortune. But making memories is priceless (or so I keep telling myself!)
