I did a lot of work to crosswalk the 1933-1934 Goudey cards against the 1,530 photos featured in the "Conlon Collection" sets. You can read the full post by following the link, but I'll also share some highlights here.

https://sabrbaseballcards.blog/2019/02/13/cardboard-crosswalk-1991-95-conlon-collection-and-1933-34-goudey/

* Explanation of why the 1933 Gehrig card looks a little weird
* Data showing the decreased use of Conlon photos over time
* Explanation of why Ruth looks so much older on his 181 card than on his other three

There's nothing life-changing here, but for those of you that like to dig deeper into these sets you may find something novel.

Great research, I really enjoy your blog, you come up with some really interesting topics, and I don't collect cards!

Thanks, guys. And if you enjoyed the Goudey/Conlon pics side by side, check out this incredible juxtaposition of T205 cards and their source photos, courtesy of Andrew Aronstein.

Nice work! I did the same exercise for the 1929 Kashin set, which is over 90% Conlon images, but I used the Getty images library.

They are truly amazing photos and it makes me kinda sad to see the cartoon abstractions on the Goudey cards. Guess they could not afford to buy the rights to the actual photos....
