I took a chance and bought this one without any authentication. It’s on a Budig OAL ball and based on my research this signature fits the 1998-1999 style. It matches a side paneled ball I got in person in 1999. I’m fairly confident it’s authentic, but I know several members here know Jeter very well so I’d appreciate any opinions. Thank you in advance.

Thank you for the opinions. I feel good about my purchase. Got it for $140 shipped. I like this style more than his modern signature, and for some reason a lot of the Steiner authenticated balls seem to have very light signatures.

Wise choice. 90s era Jeter signatures are far more desirable than his later private signing slop IMO.

In my experience, Steiner tends to use VERY light and fine tip blue ballpoint pens. I have seen examples where the ink seemingly evaporates and the signatures do not hold up -- even when stored in the dark. For the prices they charge, you'd think they could use a bold, medium point blue ballpoint for maximum signature quality.
