As a sometimes consignor I really want someone to explain to me why it's a good idea to have my item close at 6 am EST. And if it is such a grand idea how come no other business model on the face of the earth operates this way. How come Sotherbys doesn't sell $600 million paintings this way?

I don't participate in anything that goes much beyond midnight. Too old, too cranky, and need my 'effin sleep.

Do they auction cards or just memorabilia?

Have tried not to hijack too often, but this is a good time to point out that our first online Pre War Auction the lots extended individually. 80% of the auction closed at 9:15 Eastern.

Can't you enter a max bid and just got to bed?

Can you? Yes
Should you? That's debatable

They had both cards and memorabilia in the auction.

Yes, I could have, but this was a case of a gottahaveit at just about any cost, as the item is very tough to find.

Funny thing is, there were no bids on the item I was interested in, once I placed my final bid 20 minutes into extended bidding. The auction went another 8 hours and 40 minutes with no bids on the item.
