Hey guys, let's say I have ~$30,000 worth of comic books, baseball card, and video games. Is there a company you would recommend. One more detail is that my collection is back home on the East Coast so I don't know if that matters/makes a difference? Any help would be appreciated, and if there is a thread which already exists let me know!

Finkelmeier Insurance Agency, Inc. a full service insurance agency and also the nation's largest insurer of sports memorabilia.

There have been several threads in here about insurance coverage options, home safes and safety deposit boxes for protecting collections

As has been said above already, I have used these people who came highly recommended to me. Havent had a claim and hope I never will, so I cant judge how they pay, but people seem to have confidence in them.

For your insurance policy to be effective should need to file a claim you will need the appropriate documents (usually a USPOP2018)

The best expert in the country for those documents in Ray Nugent from Nugent Appraisal. Nugent Appraisal is a 42 year old company with representatives all over the country

Contact Ray Nugent.. (888) 353-7152

I have known Ray for some time and he is the best! Make sure you tell him I told you to call (Aaron Rothschild) so he will get you on top of the list. They really are the only people I would recommend to get you squared away with the appraisal documents you will need for proper insurance payout in the event of something tragic.

Thanks

Aaron

Same recommendation as Arnie: Collectibles Insurance Services, price varies depending on location of cards (discount if in home safe, bank safety deposit box, etc.; higher if you take to shows on the road, etc.):

How and how often do you update the policy for the cards you buy and sell? Is the list itemized with photos of each card?

Hey guys, bumping this up as I'm now again considering getting insurance. Do you have it and if so with who, and how has your experience been?

Sames recommendation as everyone above. Just use collectibles insurance services. They're great.

...here come the "shill" comments

I have American Collectors, and I'm not pleased with them. I chronicled trying to get a claim resolved earlier this year. It was agonizing how much babysitting I had to do to get my check. I am changing to another service when my premium runs out in May.

Is there any downside to getting a rider on my homeowners insurance. I have State Farm for that and was contemplating taking that route. Either way, I need to do something.

I am sure there are 100 different policies for collectibles. The companies are all happy to take your premium, but do we know what happens with claims? Do they screw you with the fine print? As an example, the post office will sell you insurance, but do not actually cover collectibles....
I choose CIS because others have said they made good on claims.
