Below is an autograph from a Heritage auction attributed to George "Iron" Davis

Also below is a JSA ball attributed to George "Kiddo" Davis

These look like the same person ! Anybody shed some light with additional exemplars of Iron Davis and Kiddo Davis?

Here is a nice 1948 GPC out of my personal collection of George A. "Iron" Davis who pitched a no-hitter for the 1914 Miracle Braves.
I stand corrected from my initial post. It is amazing that the two players autographs are pretty similar, & I can definitely see how they could be confused.

After seeing Mike's 2 examples of George "Kiddo" Davis, which are identical matches, I believe that your mystery is certainly solved.

Mike, nice job on providing these two examples for the initial poster. :)

Honestly, I had never heard of Iron Davis before, but I do collect the 1934 Cardinals and the ball looks exactly like my autograph from Kiddo...can't see the second photo well enough to say which one that is.

Here's a newspaper photo from 1934 (Kiddo played part year for both the Giants and Cards). This is the only year all three players played together and the Kiddo matches up well with both mine and the ball in question.

The first set of signatures are authentic exemplars of the very tough George A. "Iron Davis", a pitcher for the 1914 Miracle Braves. The second group is of the plentiful George W. "Kiddo" Davis of the Gas House Gang. The letter "D" in Davis does confuse the auction houses at times when one comes up for sale, listing a Kiddo Davis inaccurately as Iron Davis. Other than the "D" though, the rest of the signatures are quite different. Hope this is helpful.
