I wanted to ask the Venezuela experts about the 68 Topps/Vennies. Are there any 68 Vennies that have "printed in the USA" on the back or do all Vennies have the word Venezuela on the back? Thanks for your input.

I have never seen a 68 with printed in US. It should read Hecho en Venezuela in white lettering.

There was a variation discovered a couple of years on the 1968 Topps Venezuelan checklist #278 picturing Orlando Cepeda that has both Hecho en Venezuela and Printed in USA on the back, I'm guessing that it was corrected early in the print run by eliminating the Printed in USA and is very rare.

Thanks Cliff that is interesting. I came across this Ebay listing and did not know what to make of it. Here is the link. It seems like I remember someone posting a PSA 4 Bench Vennie (Goldin Auctions?) that was found to be slabbed in error. I would be curious as to what others think of this listing.https://www.ebay.com/itm/VENEZUELAN-JOHNNY-BENCH-HOF-ROOKIE-1968-VENEZUELA-TOPPS-247-GRADED-PSA-4-VG-EX/123279463736

The Bench card looks Venz. to me. Just my two cents.

Which happens to be really crappy?!

Perhaps Josh A will weigh in as he is the expert

Goldin pulled the Bench from their auction. I didn’t save a pic but I’m betting the one on eBay might be same card since they probably returned it to the consignor.

Wasn't the other one a 6 that was sent back to PSA for relabeling?

Here is the same card that was for sale recently. This seller (maevro) originally had this card listed for over a 1000 if I recall and then he changed the description and listed for 150 then he ended the listing.https://www.ebay.com/itm/-/302819647808?nordt=true&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l10137

Yes the other was a PSA 6, which was pulled and then placed into a correct slab... this appears to be another one....wow PSA!! If someone actually buys that I wonder if PSA will make them whole on their loss assuming the purchaser discovers the incorrect label... I guess the Bench VZ POP report is a bit off too... how many are there really???

Wow. At least PSA only shows 16 graded so there can’t be too many mislabeled ones, although their error rate is already pretty poor.

Here is a scan of the 1968 Topps Venezuelan checklist that erroneously has the T.C.G. Printed In USA line left on the card, it was corrected in later printings with the line omitted.
